Prepare your mix for tracking
We can only credit what stations broadcast. Four moves make sure every play has your name on it:
1. Put your name in the on-air metadata
Ask your station to set the “artist” field of the now-playing feed to your DJ name during your show or mix segments. That field is exactly what we track — if it says your name, you get the spin.
2. Tag your pre-recorded mixes
Sending stations a recorded mix? Before you send it, set the file’s artist tag to your DJ name (any editor or DJ software can do it). Automation systems broadcast whatever is in the file — make the file say you.
3. One name. One spelling. Everywhere.
“DJ Smooth”, “D.J. Smooth” and “DJSmooth” are three different names to a computer — your spins get split. Pick the exact spelling and make every station, mix file and drop match it.
4. Spin on tracked stations
We already monitor 3,809+ stations. If yours isn’t on SpinCounts yet, tell them — getting a station listed is free, and then every show you do there counts.

The chart week runs Saturday to Saturday and publishes every Sunday at 6 PM ET, with movement arrows week over week. Ties break on how many different stations aired you.

Do mixshow spins really count?
Yes. Any play a station credits to your DJ name counts toward your profile and the Top DJs chart — that on-air presence is your airplay.
I don’t release music — can I still chart?
Absolutely. The Top DJs chart ranks DJs, not songs. If stations air your name, you chart — whether you ever drop a record or not.
My spins aren’t showing up. Why?
Almost always metadata: the station’s feed isn’t crediting your name, it’s spelling it differently, or the station isn’t tracked yet. Fix the name at the source (see the four moves above) and the spins start flowing.
My name is spelled two different ways on my page. Can you merge them?
Yes — claim your page and tell us the variants; we merge them into one profile so every spin counts in one place.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Your DJ profile, spin tracking and chart placement are free. Paid plans exist for deeper analytics and reports, but the DJ essentials cost zero.
I’m also an artist with releases. How does that work?
Airplay credited to your DJ name lives on your DJ profile; records credited to a different artist name chart as music on the genre charts. Both can exist — and if it ever looks wrong, claim your page and we will sort the credits with you.
