Artist
Avery Stafford
Avery Stafford is an award-nominated vocalist, songwriter, recording artist, author, and Lead Pastor whose music brings gospel conviction, soul, contemporary Christian pop, and heartfelt storytelling together. With a warm, expressive voice and a message centered on compassion, unity, and hope, Avery creates songs that invite listeners to see one another—and the world—with renewed love.
Across six independent albums, Avery has developed a sound that is both spiritually grounded and musically expansive. His work blends soulful melodies, accessible pop sensibility, gospel-rooted harmony, expressive vocals, and strong rhythmic energy. His songwriting often names the struggles people face, responds with compassion, and ultimately points toward hope and connection.
Avery’s fifth album, Undignified, received two nominations from the 16th Annual Los Angeles International Awards, including Christian Contemporary Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year. His rendition of “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” was well received, while “Eyes of a Child” won the March 2007 Best Song Award in the Song of the Year International Songwriting Competition. His sixth album, End of Five (2012), also received critical acclaim from Soul Tracks and other music critics.
Recent releases include “If You Had To Love You” (Radio Edit), released May 15, 2026, and “One,” released May 29, 2026. “One” is an uplifting, format-crossing single about unity and harmony, supported by abstract modern artwork and distribution to 93 Black Gospel stations through Gospel Station Charts. Avery’s music has also gained radio traction, with “Hourglass” (2023) and “Manna (Come On Down)” (2024) reaching No. 1 on WJRG Gospel Inspirations Top 30 in Hamden, Connecticut. “Mercy” (2025) and “I’m Yours” (2026) have been added to rotations across multiple formats.
His upcoming Christmas release, “My Love of Christmas Time (Peace Starts in Me),” is scheduled for November 3, 2026, with standard and Dolby Atmos versions. The recording features Adam Nitti, Marcus Finnie, Matt Mendoza, Mike Hicks, and Avery on vocals. The song was named a 2026 third-quarter Pop category semifinalist in the Song of the Year songwriting contest.
Based in Portland, Oregon, Avery also served for almost 12 years as Lead Pastor at Common Ground Church in Beaverton. His music, ministry, and writing—including his book When Collaboration Mirrors the Trinity—reflect one central conviction: love can change everything when we choose to see and care for one another.
